Different channels, shared work

Marketplaces describe orders in different ways. A restaurant still needs to understand what to prepare, which brand it belongs to, and what should happen next. A shared model makes that work easier to follow.

Keep the source truth

Normalizing an order should not erase the original provider information. Source identifiers, changes, timestamps, and raw deliveries are important when something needs to be traced or reconciled.

Make differences explicit

Not every provider supports the same controls. A shared interface should reflect those limits honestly, and keep failed or ambiguous outcomes visible. That is the design principle behind Catenor’s connection layer.

An order you can follow

Take the illustrative Uber Eats order U1048: a house burger, no onions, requested for 19:05. A common queue should preserve all four facts. Changing the display format is useful; replacing the source identifier or dropping the modifier is not. When the kitchen prepares the burger, the original reference still connects its actions to the marketplace.

An action is not a confirmation

An operator requesting a change and the provider confirming it are separate events. Until confirmation arrives, show the request as pending. If the provider rejects it or the outcome is unknown, retain that distinction rather than marking the order complete. A consistent model connects the evidence; it does not make every provider behave identically.
